At the Irish Club of Luxembourg’s 2014 Summer Ball, we donated an item to the Charity Auction which raised a total of €12,000 for charity and this year we were proud to donate again.
This year, The Irish Club of Luxembourg (ICL), celebrating 30 years, organised a Charity Auction during its “Diamonds & Pearls” themed Summer Ball at Le Sud restaurant in Luxembourg-Clausen on Saturday 13 June.
As well as eating, drinking, speeches, and dancing hosted by DJ Sam Steen, the event featured a spontaneous round of “Happy Birthday”, it also being the 150th birthday of the famed Irish poet, the late W.B. Yeats.
To this year’s Charity Auction, United Advisers donated a bottle of good Irish whiskey and, when the bottle went under the hammer during the sell-out event, the auctioneer, Geoff Thompson, eventually dropped his gavel at €60.
The auction raised a total of €7,350 to be split between two charities; Think Pink Lux (Women’s cancer awareness and research in Luxembourg) and Barnardos (supporting vulnerable children and their families in Ireland).
